McDowell Mountain Ranch sits at the base of the McDowell Mountains in North Scottsdale.The community offers hiking ,biking and jogging trails throughout it's  community. It also encompasses a 70-acre campus with an elementary and middle school, joint-use public library shared with the City of Scottsdale and Citizen Service Center – a "mini" city hall. The campus also will include a city-managed aquatic center and soccer field complex. McDowell Mountain Ranch dedicated the entire 70-acre site to the city. The master planned community also donated 891 acres of desert hillside and wash corridors to the city and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Plans call for dedicating wide, multi-use wash corridors to the city as well, providing public access to the preserve. Thirteen national and regional builders have built single family homes at McDowell Mountain Ranch.
